Czestochowa is located in the picturesque hills of limestone band Jura.

In the western part of the city rises towering over the complex of religious buildings, surrounded by ramparts called Jasna Gora. It is the Jasna Gora is the extraordinary popularity of this place, because this is a unique center of Marian devotion, known throughout the world. Jasna Gora is an object of countless pilgrimages of the Polish and abroad, and was a frequent place of visit of the Holy Father John Paul II.

 



Sanctuary and Monastery of Jasna Gora

The origins of the monastery of Jasna Gora dates back to the fourteenth century. The entire architectural complex was built over more than five centuries, creating a now extremely valuable and compact monastery complex hiding traces of Polish history. Most important thing is the spiritual dimension, a priority place where tourists come, is the Chapel of Our Lady of the image of Our Lady of Czestochowa. The image became famous for many miracles.
